Understanding the Power of Persuasive Writing

Persuasive language surrounds us, however very few understand just how much impact can be gained from using this language in the right context.

This interactive workshop explores how students can identify and use persuasive language.  Participants explore persuasive language in oral and written texts based on a real life scenario.

I started teaching at Doncaster High School in Melbourne many years ago. In 1990 I shifted to the Latrobe Valley in Gippsland and became more and more passionate and concerned for those students who struggled academically. I coordinated students with disabilities;, physically, gifted students and those less able. In the last five years I have coordinated the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning and was also the Gippsland Representative. In 2007 I worked with aboriginal students in remote Western Australia and I have also worked on behalf of the Australian Red Cross for 7 years teaching International Law and helping with English.  I believe that teaching must be fun and linked to everyday situations.
