Denise Bowley

Denise is currently Head of Individual Needs at AISS. She has had over 20 years experience in the area of Special Education/Learning Support. Previously she was Head of Learning at Barker College in Sydney and the Knox School in Melbourne. She was a consultant with the Victorian Traffic Authority in their rehabilitation unit working with children who were victims of road accidents and taught at various schools in Melbourne.

 

The role of Learning Support is to offer a support system for students, parents and teachers, all working together to create a warm and accepting learning enviroment. Each student needs to know the satisfaction of success and inclusive practices concentrate on the positive aspects of students with special needs. focusing on them first as people and recognising their strengths and abilities.

Currently working as a Learning Support Teacher at the Australian International School, I have worked as an ESL teacher and Literacy Coordinator in Australian Schools. I believe in a communicative approach to literacy which allows access for each individual student in the classroom.
