Slow Reading: More than Skimming the Surface

Anecdotal and research evidence suggests that younger readers  have lost the ability to read 'slowly' - to really focus on the language used. This workshop will model how to encourage students to closely examine the language of texts, and read for deep understanding.

Participants will engage in a practical exercise on a variety of texts, using a model which could be applied in many liberal - arts classrooms.
