Word Study K-6

(NB:  A two-part workshop -- you must sign up for both Session 1 & Session 2)

Using ideas from Words Their Way, Word Crafting, and The Daily Five, we will examine how to assess spelling in the classroom and use the results to differentiate grouping.  Teachers will view hands-on word work activities in both a Grade 1 and a Grade 5 classroom. Participants will use student data to determine common spelling mistakes. These results will then be used to group students for class instruction. Organizational tips to make Word Study a manageable part of your day will be shared.  We will work in 2 groups to brainstorm and develop reusable Word Study activities for K-2 and 3-6 classrooms.

 Audience:  Primary School

Any K-6 classroom teachers who are interested in offering differentiated and effective word study as part of a balanced Literacy program.
